چکیده
High-performance megapixel focal plane arrays with small pixels have been widely used in modern optical remote sensing, astronomical, and surveillance instruments. In the prediction models applied traditional instrument performance analysis, image of a point source is assumed to fall on center detector pixel. A geometrical realistic system may actually any position pixel because sensor’s line sight includes pointing errors jitter. This assumption lead an optimistic error, estimated at between 10% 20%. We present critical factors that impact estimate design based for noise-equivalent power (NEP). They are centroid efficiency (OCE) ensquared energy, or more precisely, energy rectangular (EOD). performed simulation studies imaging without generalized central obscuration.

Energy Efficiency in Passive Optical
This article provides an overview of current efforts in reducing energy consumption in passive optical access networks. Both ITU-T and IEEE standardized PONs are considered. The current solutions proposed by standardization authorities, industry, and academia are classified based on the layer they address in the standardized architectures: physical layer, data link layer, and hybrid. Then, the ...
متن کاملGuest Editorial Energy-Efficiency in Optical Networks
THE increasing concern for environmental and cost issues has made energy efficiency in telecom networks an important theme. According to a recent report [1], today’s networks are wasting a lot of energy by consuming 10,000 times more energy than what is really needed. The Internet currently consumes about 0.4% of the total electricity in broadband-enabled countries and is foreseen to quickly re...
متن کاملEnergy efficiency of optical grooming of QAM optical transmission channels.
Analysis of the energy use for optical grooming of quadrature amplitude modulated signals in optical transmission systems is used to determine the potential efficiency benefits. An energy model is developed for both optical and electronic grooming and used to study the relative efficiency for three different network scenarios. The energy efficiency is evaluated considering both coherent and dir...
متن کاملOptical MTF and Quantum Efficiency Analysis for Smart Sensors
In this paper we critique the first order quantum efficiency and modulation transfer function (MTF) analysis for photocollection in both a finite and semi-infinite slab of semiconducting material. We derive the correct equations from first principles and perform a case study comparing photodetection in silicon and GaAs. This is of interest in the first order design of GaAs and silicon optical s...
